Friday 15 Jany. 1858 My dear Sir, Mr. Cooper goes down to ascertain the result of the meeting between the Wairoa and Ngatikahungunu natives. I have not at present any distinct proposition to make to the Natives of either party. In the meantime exertions will be made to effect Hapukus removal and none shall be lost on my part to carry out that object, all that I have to request of yourself and the Wairoa party is that of obtaining a fair extension of time for te Hapuku. I remain My dear sir, Yours very truly Donald McLean.
