[To Worgan?] Napier 23rd. March 1869. Dear Sir I have received your letter of the 19th. Instant and am much obliged for Hamana's letter. I am glad to hear that you are prepared for an emergency and that the Natives are showing every desire to cooperate. I am not surprised to hear that there is some depression amongst the settlers in these unsettled times, but if you all act cordially and the Natives see that even in times of danger the European settlers are not dispirited, this alone will have a powerful effect. I have not received any reply to my last communication relative to your employment and it is possible that no change may take place. I remain Dear Sir Yours truly, Donald McLean.
