I paid on to Ihaka the amount for its purchase £250-12-6 out of the Balce. I had in hand of the advance on a/c of the Loan, and with the money Richardson as Ihaka's Agent bought the Land for him. I was glad to hear from Ormond that you had arranged for further Bank advances, for our liabilities on indispensable public works are increasing and the people are clamorous to be paid. I have not been able to advance Neber much money as the outstanding liabilities have had to be paid and several still remain. Many of them are equally pressing so that I hardly know how to distribute the little money I have in hand. At all events I have got 3/8 Customs today £703, we have got on much better than I expected up to this time, but I shall be glad to get authority to draw farther on the Bank, for it is so difficult to satisfy the numerous claimants for the share of the "Loaf." I was glad to see you were successful in your measure for Native Representation, it gave me great pleasure to read your speech. I do not exactly know whether the Coupons' Act provides for a facsimile of the Provl. Treasurers signature to Debentures. I should like if possible to be saved the infliction of signing another £6000 worth, so please bear me in mind, for I can assure I have now and to come plenty of work to do, to keep matters efficient.
