MISS MAY SUTTON, winner of the ladies' open championship at Wimbledon, 1905. One of four sisters all famous on the Pacific Coast for their skill at lawn tennis. Miss May is only 17 years old. and was at first classed as a hopeless “duffer.” However, by perseverance and energy she has now won her way to the top of the tree in England as well as in America.

PLYMOUTH ELECTS LADY ASTOR.—FIRST WOMAN M.P. The electors of the Sutton Division of Plymouth (Eng.) recently made history by returning Viscountess Astor as their M.P. The result of the poll was received with the greatest enthusiasm. Lady Astor is seen on the balcony, with her husband and their son, “Billy,” after the declaration of the poll, the appearance of the new member being the signal for a loud outburst of cheering.
