1- FRANK GODDARD (Eng.) beats EDDIE McGOORTY (U.S.A.) in the thirteenth round at the Holborn Stadium, England. The referee is seen stopping the bout, saving McGoorty from further punishment. Goddard, after starting wretchedly in his contest against the American, made a wonderful recovery, and had McGoorty totally at his mercy in the 13th round. 2. JOE BECKETT v. DICK SMITH at the Royal Albert Hall, London, for the English Heavyweight Boxing Championship—Smith (crouching) is seen endeavouring to evade one of Beckett’s determined attacks. 3. BECKETT sidesteps a hard right from DICK SMITH in their fierce combat for the English Heavyweight Championship, in which Beckett knocked his opponent out in the fifth round. 4. PAUL JOURNEE (on left), the young French heavyweight boxer, arrives in London accompanied by his manager, M. Leon Lee. On May 8 Journee was knocked out in the first round by Frank Moran at the Holborn Stadium, London. 5. JOE BECKETT (on left) and DICK SMITH battling for the boxing supremacy of England, their encounter being one of the fiercest seen in a London boxing ring for many a day. 6. THE FINISH OF THE BECKETT-SMITH BOXING CONTEST FOR THE ENGLISH HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP.—BECKETT knocks DICK SMITH out in the fifth round, thereby retaining his title.
