This old carving comes from the Waikoto district. It is one of the very few old carvings which have survived from this area, for during the war of the 1860's many carved houses were burnt by the Pakeha soldiers. The figure is 3 feet 8 inches high, and is now in the Dominion Museum in Wellington.
