Most young Moori people who wish to take up an apprenticeship have to leave their homes and find accommodation in the cities. These ten boys, all from the East Coast (from Wairoa to Tikitiki) travelled all the way to Christchurch to live at the new Methodist Hostel for the duration of their apprenticeships.
