CHEQUE FOR A.N.A. CLUB FROM SHIP’S COMMITTEE

The executive of the A.N.A. Club gratefully acknowledges the receipt of a cheque, with covering letter, from the' canteen committee of a ship recently visiting Wellington. The letter expressed the sincere thanks of the men for hospitality extended to them by the club. A similar communication has been received signed by all the members of a vital points company. The accommodation of the club is being severely taxed with the great number of men who use it as their city rendezvous. The cafeteria committee appeals for donations of jam. home-made or otherwise. This is an urgent need. , Welcome and useful gifts were a quantity of butter, received from the Master ton Co-op. Dairy Company, four smokers’ stands and a sack of vegetables from the Carterton Patriotic Society, a large hamper, includ ing a dressed sheep, from the Dannevirke Patriotic Society, per Mrs. Gibberd, and a chest of tea from a Wellington commercial firm. The dances on Friday and Saturday evenings were crowded. They are becoming more popular every week.. The ■ members of the girls’ committee in charge were: Mrs. J. Tredray and Miss Harper Allan on Friday, and Misses Mildred Cardale and Lola Benge on Saturday. , . Assisting the executive during the 'week and weekend were members of the Victoria League, Mrs. P. Fraser’s party, Navy League, A.N.A. helpers. Air Force Relations and A.N.A. girls’ .auxiliary.
