ENJOYABLE ITEMS AT Y.M.C.A. SOLDIERS’ TEA
Members of the Wellington provincial war executive of the League of Mothers were hostesses at the Y.M.C.A. soldiers’ tea last night, with the president, Mrs. H. H. Cornish. Mr. C. White was chairman for ; the evening and associated with him were Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Cornish,' Lady Elliott and Miss Lorimer. Vocal solos were given by Mrs. Winnie Morrish, Private H. Grenfell, accompanied by Miss Findlay. Miss Nola Hyde gave elocutionary items, a musical number was presented by Corporal Charles Cathcart, R.N.Z.A.F., and a quartet of Maori soldiers sang Native songs. Leading Aircraftman E. McKnight ’thanked the hostesses for an enjoyable evening. Mr. H. Hindle led
a community sing, with Mr. W. Mann at the piano. The usual minute’s- silent prayer for men of the forces serving overseas, was observed.
