FOR MEN OF FORCES

Record Attendance At Spinsters’ Club

Members of the Spinsters’ Club do not solicit help for their work of entertaining men of the forces and in running their club, but do this by their own efforts. Each week the savoury, home-made tea is prepared by members in their homes and brought to the rooms, and working bees frequently meet, to help with special work for the club. It has been agreed that each member shall raise a specified sum of money toward club funds, and already many have reached the quota. Some have knitted woollen comforts for men of the fighting services and sold them, bridge parties and games evenings have been held, cakes and sweets made and sold. One girl had a number of colourful knitting bags that found ready sale and another made and sold dozens of fragrant posies of daphne. The club was again well patronized at the weekend. Yesterday there was a record attendance and ' guests spent a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and evening. Two members of the Tin Hat Club provided items, also some of the men.
