JOURNALISM TRAINING COURSES The third Maori journalism course is being run at Waiariki Community College in Rotorua from September 1986 to February 1987. The course will offer broad basic training in all aspects of journalism and Maori tikanga. This includes shorthand and typing and prepares trainees for work in newspaper, magazine, radio and television journalism. The course aims to strengthen taha Maori and the news media. It is open to people 17 years of age and over who have a commitment to Maoritanga. They should have a good command of written english, a keen interest in current affairs and a wide general knowledge.
