The Society known as -the Friends of the Turnbull Library was established in 1939 to promote interest in the Library, to assist in the extension of its collections, and to be a means of interchange O information on all matters of concern to those interested in books generally as well as in the manuscripts, sketches, maps and photographs with other materials : which throw light on our history.; , The Society carries out its objectives by means of periodic meetings - and the production of publications, including die Friends" .. Members of the Society are also able to purchase Library publications, ; including those of the Alexander Turnbull Library Endowment Trust, at a discount.
