Notes on Contributors

Alan Loney founded Hawk Press in August 1975, to print books of poetry ‘in form appropriate to their content’, one of which, his own dear Mondrian, gained the NZ Book Awards poetry prize in 1978. He has recently begun printing on a handpress, the result of which so far has been a limited edition of The Death of Captain Cook byj. C. Beaglehole, published by the Alexander Turnbull Library Endowment Trust, 1979. Articles on his work as a printer have appeared in Spleen, the Christchurch Press, and the New Zealand Listener. An exhibition of his books and printing was held at the Galerie Legard, Wellington, during April 1978. This is his first published article on printing.
