CERTIFICATE COURSE IN POLYNESIAN STUDIES This new course is due to commence in late February 1973. Applications for enrolment may be received during February. Applicants should have some knowledge of Maori or another Polynesian language. No strict formal qualifications are required. The course is a part-time one covering two academic years and involves students in attendance at class sessions twice a week at University. The main studies are in Maori Language (with a view to use and teaching of the language) and Society and Culture (with special reference to Polynesia and New Zealand). Main lecturers are Mr Bill Parker and Mr John Rivers (anthropologist). The course is intended to help teachers or prospective teachers of Maori language, teachers of Social Studies and welfare and community workers.
