PRODIGY PLAY STARBAIT
+ BLACK GRAPE, ORB, REGURGITATOR Prodigy return to New Zealand to play the “Starbait” show at the Supertop at Mt Smart stadium on Friday January 16. With them on the bill are Black Grape, Orb and Australia’s Regurgitator. The concert promises to be a state of the art fusion of music culture and visual mayhem with cutting edge DJs. The event will run from spm to 11pm with tickets limited to a comfortable (“room to move”) number to suit the dance vibe of the line-up. There will also be a smaller live stage for dance orientated acts and a small stage for deejays in spaces adjacent to the Supertop. Black Grape will release a new album Stupid Stupid Stupid this
month. Both the Orb and Black Grape are appearing in New Zealand for their first time, although Alex Patterson of Orb deejayed at a Wired party last year. “Starbait” is the creation of Big Day Out promoters Lees & West. “Starbait” has been the name of the Big Day Out web site for two years. The style of the Big Day Out grew from the original Australian line-up that featured Nirvana and Violent Femmes. With the 1998 “Starbait” line-up, the promoters Lees & West are seeking to set a new direction and post-grunge groove for a concert that will, like the Big Day Out, become an annual event on music calendars. Tickets go on sale on Monday November 10 at Ticketek, Truetone, Sounds and the usual outlets, nationwide. For further information: www.starbait.com
