Subtronix comes back into international | drum *n’ bass action this month with DJ Zinc, coming to Auckland on | September 25 — Herzog will be jammed. Zinc’s first solo release was the ' i rather large tune ‘Super Sharp Shooter’, on Ganja Records. | Zinc has also worked for SUS, Brain, Frontline, Sub Base, | Back 2 Basics, Congo Natty, Droppin Science and 2000 AD. I k S He is currently working and spending most of his time with W DJ Hype and Pascal, building up the True Playa’z label... for L, . .. ■ * those who sway towards house grooves, don’t miss Future f ji' Funk direct from Germany on Sept 26 at the Kase - The Munich house act record on their own labels (Flavour Wrec - ■ and Toasted), plus they have also had releases on Delirium. SJEE3BH Compose, Plastic City, Her Babel, and Strictly Rhythm ... ? another special event on at the Kase this month is Delicious, featuring Mat | Russell and Rob Milton (both from Oz), plus Andy Vann and Emerson | Todd. Expect sweat and hands in the air ‘uplifting vibes’ malarky. DAVE ROPER : WELLINGTON Still a touch on the quiet side in Welli, but the worst of the slow season r seems behind us. What’s been happening then ... the Advent went off big i time with over 1000 people checking out the relentless techno assault. Yep, J Eden are serious fuck-ups on the Auckland end ... Darren Price failed to get . | into the; country but that didn’t stop 400 people from having a seriously « good time at Luna on a Thursday night.’ In Price’s absence, Mahi and Cyrus I laid down a barrage of quality techno and stonking hardness, and from the : jaws of disaster a legendary evening was pulled forth ... Andee and Schmoo treated us to the last ever Come Together at Fishbowl, with Clinton, Sye, i and Burgess doing them proud. Check out Andee and Schmoo at the new ( look Luna dance club on Fridays ... this month sees a welcome return to (■ Welli from Subtronix, with the Super Sharp Shooter himself, DJ Zinc, set to . tear up Luna on September 26 ... next in line from Subtronix is PFM, and | the buzz is big on this one. ANDY PICKERING : CHRISTCHURCH As was expected, the Jap Uplifting Alliance rocked the Ministry on August J 15, making it by far the party of the year. 081 and Horn played magnificent | sets to perhaps the most responsive crowd Chch has ever seen... on Aug J 29, the Players And Hustlers bar hosted Judgement Day with DJs Kinesis, Pylon, Solid State, Phantom,' and Grind. This was the first time Players held j a dance party — expected more in the future... Karma 2, the sequel to the j massive Karma rave of last year, is happening on Sept 6at the Chch Town f Hall. The event boasts four independent entertainment zones — trance, ■■ drum ‘n’ bass, hardcore, and ambient — plus the Innerphase Argon Lazer; 1 an indoor fireworks display; Ethervision visuals and a large lighting rig. DJs include Smokie (Oz), Martin Jay, Kinesis, Unknown, Pylon, and Flux, and | live acts, Freq, D.M.T, and Dome... DJ Zinc will be coming to town on Sept ? 27 with the event taking place at a new venue, the Lumiere theatre. DJs r j supporting include Presha, Pylon, and Pots... finally, look out for Nu ?
