Package Tours to Woodstock ‘94
This year’s 25 Year Anniversary Woodstock promises to be the American concert event of the year. 12,000 bus and plane ticket packages for the concert were snapped up on the first day of sales. The following acts are confirmed: Aerosmith, Peter Gabriel, Cypress Hill, Johnny Cash, Nine Inch Nails, Spin Doctors, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bob Dylan, Alice in Chains, Jimmy Cliff, Melissa Etheridge, Metallica, the Neville Brothers, Joe Cocker, Porno for Pyros, Cranberries, Crosby Stills and Nash, the Allman Brothers Band, Arrested Deveopment and the Rollins Band. Tickets cost $135 for the Aug 13-14 fesival in Saugerties, N.Y. In order to protect the environment and make life livable for inhabitants of the area, tickets initially went on sale only for
those buying the bus or air packages. To encourage car pooling, tickets will be sold only in blocks of four with one parking pass per car. Those who drive will be parked away from the site and bused to the concert. A total of 250,00 tickets are available.
UK Jazz guitarist Ronny Jordan play Auckland Town Hall June 24 and Wellington Town Hall the following night. The Village People will tour late June playing June 28 Auckland, 29 Christchurch, 30 Wellington, 31 Palmerston North. Paul Kelly returns with Deborah Conway supporting. They play August 2 Queenstown, 3 Dunedin, 4 Christchurch, 5 Wellington, 6 Auckland. Bad Brains play Auckland’s Powerstation on August 3. Later this year expect Frank Black, Superchunk, Lydia Lunch, Pantera, Sepultura and Pearl Jam. Rumoured for outdoor shows early 1995 are Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and the Eagles with original members Don Henley and Glen Frey.
