UK Monthly Music Mags Gain Readers While weekly tabloids NMEand Melody Maker registered falls in circulation in the second half of 1993, gains were made by monthly mags Q, Face, Select, Vox, Arena and Sky. NME fell 5.9% to 111,703 circulation and Melody MakerfeW 6.5% to 64,601. Q moved up 3.2% to 177,065 and Select moved up 5% to 83,139. In, a publisher’s estimate Face claim 18% growth to 105,779. _• InFocus and Frenzy Move! TV3 shows InFocus and Frenzy are moving to Sunday mornings from mid-April. Timothy Giles is appearing on InFocus this year. Director Richard Hansen has left Frenzy and is replaced by Ross Cunningham. Shake/Magazine to be Relaunched Publishers of RipltUp, In Tune International will relaunch Shake! magazine in June. The music monthly was published from November 1984 to June 1990. In the McNair 1990 Readership Survey Shake! registered a 10+ readership of 224,000. The magazine will focus on modern music and lifestyle. RipltUp Staff Changes Designer Jonathan King who took RipltUp into the desktop era has left to do some OE and is replaced by Design school graduate Ryan Henderson. Donna Yuzwalk is back fulltime as Sub-Editor. A reporter has been added to the staff, John Russell. An advertising manager Sarah Nathan has been appointed and Hans Hoeflich is doing direct advertising sales. The enlarged staff will also produce Shake! magazine monthly. .
