COL.HAMPTON&THE AQUARIUM RESCUE UNIT An important Southern USA band gets exposure here courtesy of Phil Walden's revived Capricorn label, now based in Nashville. It's no ordinary band — they move from rock to bluegrass to blues and the principle instrument is the electric mandolin. Like a Captain Beefheart rave-up with Little Feat?

PANTERA Vulgar Display of Power These hardcore rockers follow up their Cowboys From Hell album with more angry tattoo rock such as 'Be Demons Be Driven', 'Mouth for War' and 'Fucking Hostile'. Power metal music from the hard gigging, hard rockin' crew from Hell. Produced by Terry Date (Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone).

GLENN JONES Here I Go Again A soul man with gospel roots and a super voice with numerous R&B hits in the 80s and a role beside Jennifer Holliday in Broadway's Sing, Mahalia, Sing. Now with Atlantic Jones has written 10 of the 11 tracks, some with composer Bernard Belle who has worked with Michael Jackson, Guy etc. Here I Go Again is a soul milestone.

NITRO O.F.R. Here's their first album on "Rampage", O.F.R. (stands for "Out Fucking Rageous"), fronted by the classically trained metal master Jim Gillette. A ball for headbangers! Big on MTV's metal rotate, these guys have the fastest guitars and the loudest drums ever recorded!

THE JESUS & MARY CHAIN Honey's Dead The first brash step into the 90s by William and Jim Reid. The new album was recorded with a full band, giving the music a looser and more organic feel. DAVID BYRNE Uh-Oh The all-around Renaissance man of Talking Heads is back with his first solo album since 1989's 'Rei Momo'. Twelve new songs that are both playful & profound. Although the Latin vibe is still in effect here, the overall feel is accessible and not far removed form mid 80s Talking Heads. Byrne at his best.

LITTLE VILLAGE Little Village An amazing meeting of rock legends — Ry Cooder, John Hiatt, Nick Lowe and Jim Keltner— producing real rock & roll firepower. Try out 'She Runs Hof, The Action' and the ode to the studly bald spot, 'Solar Sex Panel'. A classic, cool rock collaboration!

THE BLUES BROTHERS BAND Red, White & Blues The band's back — former Booker T & MGs players, Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn, with Stax label artists Carla Thomas and Eddie Floyd guesting plus Dan "Elwood" Aykroyd". Floyd remakes his old hits 'Big Bird' and 'I Never Found A Girl'. The spirit and the sound of Blues Brothers "SOUL!" live on!

STEVE WYNN Dazzling Display Wynn is a songwriter / singer / guitarist I producer and the creative spark behind 80s legends, Dream Syndicate. Guests include R.E.M.'s Peter Buck, Flo & Eddie, Johnette from Concrete Blonde and Vicki from the Bangles. A very cool album with a cool single 'Drag'.
