NEIL YOUNG Weld (Warner Music) By now everyone knows just how wonderful and cool the Neil Young live album of the same name is, so outside of telling you that this is the video to the album we don't really need to go into the musical specifics. It's the visuals we're here for, and in keeping with the style of the album they're very pared down and basic. ‘ i It's a straight live deal here, lots of shots of Neil and Crazy Horse sweating away (they certainly aren't getting any younger) and more than enough crowd footage to last a lifetime. There's seemingly endless shots of the crowd, who are seriously blue collar, ball cap-wearing salt of the earth types, and they all know all the words to all of Neil's songs! It's interesting to watch as these people get all choked up in 'Blowin' In The Wind' then go wild for'Fuckin' Up' and so on. It's almost scary to see just how this stuff affects people, especially when you're sitting in the comfort of your own living room. I would have been really impressed to see some Sonic Youth footage and the crowd reaction to that, but I suppose Neil's own noise efforts are fine.
