No. 139. —Petition of Mildred A. Barwell, of Ashburton. Praying that legislation be enacted to prevent unfair competition in the photographic trade. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 30th October, 1934.

No. 320.—Petition of W. S. Wilson, of Wellington. Praying that legislation be enacted with a view to encouraging reciprocal trading with other countries. I have the honour to report that the Industries and Commerce Committee has carefully considered this petition, and has no recommendation to make. sth March, 1935. A. D. McLeod, Chairman.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Industries and Commerce Committee desires to place on record the valuable services rendered to the Committee by the Chairman, Hon. A. D. McLeod, whose courtesy, tact, and business ability has greatly assisted the harmonious activities of the Committee during the session ; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. 28th March, 1935. Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Industries and Commerce Committee desires to record its appreciation of the services rendered by the Clerk, Mr. M. S. Pasley, in the discharge of his various duties during the session ; and it also desires that this resolution shall be recorded on the minutes of the Committee, and be reported to the House. 28th March, 1935.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the Industries and Commerce Committee, consisting of ten members, has held eighteen meetings during the session, with an average attendance of seven members. One hundred and eight petitions were referred to the Committee and reported on to the House. Seventeen of these petitions referred to the repeal of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Act, 1933, sixty-one to establish fair trading conditions in the retail bread trade, and twenty-six that a, minimum retail price be forthwith fixed for the sale of motor-spirits. The Committee considered and reported on to the House the following Bills: Auckland Metropolitan Milk Act Repeal, and the Cinematograph Films Amendment Bill. 28th March, 1935. A. D.
