ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Friday, the 14th Day of July, 1922. Ordered, " That Standing Order No. 219 be suspended, and that a Select Committee bo appointed, consisting of fifteen members, to consider all matters relating to school-teachers, education, and public instruction generally, public-school training of teachers, higher education, technical education, manual instruction, and such other matters affecting education as may be referred, to it; to have power to call for persons and papers ; throe to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Atmore, Mr. Bitchener, Mr. E. Dixon, Mr. Eraser, the Hon. Mr. Hanan, Sir J. P. Luke, Mr. McNicol, Mr. Malcolm, Mr. Masters, Mr. Nash, Mr. Poland, Mr. Potter, Mr. Sidey, Mr. Wright, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Parr.) Wednesday, the 13th Day oe September, 1922. Ordered, " That the Canterbury College and Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Bill be referred to the Education Committee"-(Hon. Mr. Parr.)

EEPOETB. No. 3. —Petition of Catherine Gray, of Masterton. Praying for leave to draw teachers' superannuation allowance as medically unfit. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that provision be made this session to enable Miss Gray to draw superannuation as medically unfit, and that this report be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 12th September, 1922.

No. 56. —Petition of Mary Bethune, of Wellington. Praying for the payment of £66 14s. Id., being the amount of her late husband's salary for the period 27th December, 1921, to 6th February, 1922, covering the Christmas school holidays. I have the honour to report that the Committee recommends that this petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 12th September, 1922.

No. 6.1. —Petition of Thomas D'Arcy Hamilton, of Kawhia. Praying for a pension or other compassionate allowance for services rendered while in the employ of the Education Board. I have the honour to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 12th September, 1922.

Canterbury College and Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Bill. The Education Committee, to which was referred the above-mentioned Bill, has the honour to report that the said Bill has been carefully' considered, and the Committee recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with amendment as shown on copy of the Bill attached hereto. 21st September, 1922.

No. 229.—Petition of John George Henry Bull, of Gisborne. Praying that he may be allowed to retain certain pension-moneys which have been reclaimed by the Teachers' Superannuation Pensions Board, and be entitled to receive his full pension from the date of his retirement. I have the honour to report that this Committee is of opinion that the Superannuation Board should allow petitioner two years from date for the repayment of the £112 at present outstanding, and recommends the Government to forward this report to the Superannuation Board. 20th October, 1922.
