Ordered, " That a Committee bo appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries, stock, and commerce, with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report ; the Committee to have power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mi. Bollard, Mr. Buchanan, Mr. Dillon, Hon. Mr. T. Duncan, Mr. Hall, Mr. Lawry, Mr. Macdonald, Mr. Okey, Ml. Witty, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. T. Mackenzie.) Wednesday, the 7th Day' oe October, 1908. No. 183, Session II. —Petition of W. Maddison, of Gisborne. Petitioner prays for the adoption, for the benefit of the stockowners of the Dominion, of his improved system of earmarking live-stock. I am directed to report that the Committee recommends that the Government be requested to make inquiries with the view to bringing in some improved general system of earmarking flocks. 19th November, 1909.

No. 657 (1908). —Petition of John Bishop and 66 Others, of the Peninsula, Dunedin. Petitioners protest against the stringency of the proposed Dairy Regulations. 1 am directed to report that (he Committee has no recommendation to make. Ist December, 1909. No. 309, Session 11. —Petition of Donald Kerr, of No. 292 Tinakori Road, Wellington. Petitioner prays for relief for alleged wrongful dismissal from Government service. 1 am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation Lo make. 7th December, 1909.

Nos. 142 and 292, Session ll.—Petitions of George Butcher and 892 Others and G. W. Smith and 74 Others. Petitioners pray for protective and remedial measures in favour of the timber industry of the Dominion. 1 am directed to report that, this matter having been so recently inquired into by a Royal Commission, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 14th December, 1909.

No. 19, Session I.—Petition of William Crowe and 62 Others, of Lepperton. Petitioners draw attention to the widespread dissatisfaction which exists amongst the farming community against the proposed new Dairy Regulations, and ask for modification thereof. 1 am directed, to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 14th December, 1909.

Wellington City Milk-supply Bill. The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee, to whom was referred the abovementioned Bill, has the honour to report that at a meeting held on the 17th instant it was resolved that consideration of the Bill be postponed until next session.

21st December, 1909. No. 26, Session 11.—Petition of John A. Gilruth, Professor of Veterinary Science and Pathology for the University of Melbourne, Australia. Petitioner prays for compensation for loss of an appointment in South Africa. 1 am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 21st December, 1909.

No. 446, Session ll.—Petition of George Giles Wilson, of Hamilton. Petitioner prays for relief on account of injuries received. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 21st December, 1909.

Agricultural Colleges. The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee lias the honour to report thirt at a meeting held on the 17th instant the following resolution was passed :— " That in the opinion of this Committee the time has arrived to establish agricultural colleges in this Dominion. This Committee therefore strongly recommends the Hon. the Minister of Agriculture to take the matter into his consideration during the recess, with the view to the establishment of such colleges by the Government at an early date." 21st December, 1909.

The Agricultural, Pastoral, Stock, and Commerce Committee has the honour to report that at a meeting held on the 17th instant the following resolution was passed: — " Resolved, That a vote of thanks be accorded to the Chairman for his courtesy and ability in dealing with the matters that came before the Committee, and that this resolution be recorded on the minutes and reported to the House." 21st December, 1909.
