general meeting of the various tribes concerned in the Mangakahia land (the chiefs on both sides being Matiu and Tirarau) and an agreement between all parties as to the boundaries of the claim, a survey was commenced under Matin's direction, but was stopped by a peremptory message from Tirarau. The Chiei Land Purchase Commissioner and I, seeing that a risk would be run by allowing the survey to proceed, directed it to be stopped.
