Seizing a plum pie he hurled it at Richard. Poor Richard got the pastry stuck all over his head and the juice ran all down his coat. Now this is not the nicest way to receive pastry, so you can imagine Richard got really furious Gwendoline turned a complete somersault, she was so astonished. Polly saw the humorous side of it, and yelled with laughter. Of course Poppy and Pedro did not stay for lunch. Pedro ran off With the chicken, and Puppy clung to the sandwich, and together they disappeared over the hill. Poor Richard shouted what he would do when he caught them, and then the Chums finished their lunch in peace. "I never want to see them again," said Gwendoline. "Neither do I," said Polly, "but somehow I feel we haven't seen Hie last of them." Polly was right, we shall see quite a lot of Poppy and Pedro in the future.
