12-HOUR APPEAL BY VICAR—-The vicar of St. Peter’s parish, Upper Riccarton (the Rev. J. Thomas), spent 12 hours outside his church yesterday to receive gifts towards the replacement of the shingle roof of the 75-year-old church. This photograph shows Mrs B. O’Toole making an offering. Replacement of the shingles with slates is estimated to cost about £3000.
