The bonny banks of Loch Lomond, Perthshire, Scotland, will soon be enriched by about £500,000 every year. That is the rough value of the 120 million units of electricity which will he produced by the Loch Sloy hydroelectric scheme, on which 2000 men are working, The photo shows the massive dam at the end of Loch Sloy. The final level will be that of the control tower in the centre On top of this, a house will be built for the superintendent. A 10 foot road will so across the top of the structure. Loch Sloy is situated 788 feet above sea level, in a district which has more than 100 inches of rain a year. The dam will allow about 500,000 gallons through to the power station every day. (A.P. Two Aranui High School pupils, Chris Hogg (left) and Jason Urquhart, both aged 14, check their model hydro dam entered in the Canterbury-Westland Science Fair, which opens at the Christchurch Town Hall this evening. The fourth-formers took a month to make the model, which represents the national electricity grid and generates power to light the model house. Other Aranui pupils have also entered exhibits in the fair.
