District News

FOREST HILL.

The recent floods were responsible for the destruction of a good many rabbits, but the crops were not damaged to any.extent. Mr Roy, who has been acting as missionary here for the last seven months, is leaving owing to the district having been made into a fully sanctioned charge, and therefore entitled to a fully ordained minister. Mr Roy, whose ministrations have been very acceptable, was entertained at a farewell social in the Forest Hill Hall on Monday. The Rev. Mr Baird presided. A very pleasant evening was spent, songs being given by local singers and visitors from Winton and a short address by the chairman. During the evening Mr Roy was the recipient of an illuminated address, as a token of goodwill from the congregation. Mr Roy made a feeling reply, in the course of which he stated that his stay in the district had been a very pleasant one, and he regretted that circumstances compelled a change. Refreshments were provided in abundance by the ladies of the church.
