ALL-NIGHT SITTING

AUSTRALIAN FARLLYMENT (Rec. 11 a.m.). CANBERRA, This Day. In what is believed to bo the first of a series of all-night sittings, necessary to deal with pressing legislation before the Christmas recess, the House of Representatives sat until after 4 a.m. to-day. This was suggested be cause so many members wished to ispeak on tile- Commonwfcalth Aid Roads Bill. Soon after the supper adjournment at 11.30, the House was almost counted out, when only one Opposition member returned to the Chamber. Several Government members responded to the quorum hells, hut no Opposition members appeared. A Government member called to the sole Opposition representative, Mr E. J. Ward: “Are you lonely, Eddie?” Mr Ward replied: “No, but I don’t see any sense in the Government stonewalling its own Bill.’* The quorum of 41 members was declared present and business- proceeded.
