PARTY DIRECTION DEPLORED / (Rec. 12.10 p.m. SYDNEY, This Day. “I don’t believe the liberties of the people are safe if all representatives of the people vote just as the leaders of their parties direct them,” said the Archbishop of Canterbury, at a function at which he was guest of the State Government. “A Member of Parliament still lias the prerogative of using his own judgment on public matters, and should use it accordingly,” he added. “I say this because I believe it, but knowing that no single member of any party will ever encourage such a heresy.”
