PURGE IN JAPAN
COMMUNISTS DISMISSED (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) TOKIO, Aug. 1,6. Two thousand Communists and Left Wing Radicals employed by power supply companies in Japan are to be dismissed this month to safeguard installations from sabotage, the newspaper “Asahi Shimbun” reported to-day. The employers are understood to have discussed the dismissals with the Government following the recent increase in mysterious accidents and power shutdowns in which sabotage was suspected. A purge in newspapers, news agencies and broadcasting stations has already begun, and observers here believe other public utilities might follow the power companies’ example.
