SHIP STRIKES MINE
DAMAGE NOT EXTENSIVE (Rec. 9.50) HONG KONG, Aug. 10. The British ship Tsinan struck a mine in the Yangtse river estuary this morning when approaching Shanghai from Hong Kong. A representative of the owners, Butterfield and Swire, said to-night that they understood the damage was not extensive, but the ship probably had run aground. There were no casualties. It is hoped to tow the vessel to Woosung or Shanghai to-morrow. The Tsinan carried general cargo but no passengers.—Reuter.
