YEAR’S OFFICERS ELECTED The annual meeting of the Staveley-Springburn-Alford Forest subbranch of the Red Cross Society was held in the Staveley Hall. There was a good attendance, presided over by Mrs S. Goldsmith. u Letters of appreciation for used clothing and knitted garments sent

overseas were read. The secretary read the year’s report, which showed that 7 lbs. of wool had been knitted into children’s garments by members and sent overseas. Donations had been sent to the Centre Fund and the Street Day Appeal. It was decided to send a donation of £5 to the Food-for-Britain collection week and a box of used clothing brought by members is to be sent to the British Red Cross. Mrs D. W. Herron occupied the chair for the election of officers, which resulted: President, Mrs S. Goldsmith: vice-presidents, Mesdames E. Pawsey, Totty, and N. Lamb; joint secretary and treasurer, Mrs S. Pawsey and Miss Johnston.
