CONTROL OF LAND SALES
MINISTER'S REFERENCE TO WORK OF COMMITTEES (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March. 10. “I hope the concluding portion of my statement of yesterday regarding the change in the set-up of the land valuation committees will not be construed as a reflection on the committees which have been operating up to -he present,” said the . Attorney-Gen-eral (Mr T. C. Webb) to-day. “I feel sure that few will deny that die committees have carried out their duties conscientiously and for the most part efficiently,” he said. “That at any rate is my own belief, based on my knowledge and experence of the committees before whom I have appeared since the inception of the act. However, the fact remains that most people seem to .have, greater confidence in the capability of a tribunal over which a ( udiciai officer presides.”
