Bob Hope, Lucille Ball and William Demarest are co-starred in “Sorrowful Jones,” now at the St. James Theatre. Bob has the title role,'that of a ‘skinflint smart guy” who runs a New bookie agency with the able assistance of equally smart Demarest. The two men form a humorous team, with Demarest’s dry humour proving an excellent foil for Hope’s quips and gags. However, “Sorrowful Jones” does not depend for its laurels on its laughs alone. It tells a story of the effect on the bookie’s life when he inds himself responsible for a little orphaned girl.
