IDEAL CONDITIONS *
Conditions were again ideal in Ashburton to-day, with a slight northwesterly breeze having little effect on temperatures. Gardens once again require watering, temperatures during the last few days drying the ground after the welcome fall early this week.
Recordings taken at the Domain meteorological station this morning were: Maximum temperature 59.7 degrees, minimum 45.9 degrees; barometric reading 30.01 inches, earth temperature 57.4 degrees. A total cf 10.4 hours of sunshine was recorded yesterday.
OUTLOOK FAIR

WELLINGTON, This Day/ The Government Meteorologist, .at noon to-day, issued the following statement' regarding the weather: General situation: An anti-cyclone extends across central and southern New Zealand and a depression lies to the north of the North Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru to 5 p.m. to-morrow is as follows: — - Light or -moderate variable winds, with areas of morning fog or low cloud, but weather otherwise fair to fine, with warm day temperatures. Further outlook: Fair.
