VICTORIAN POLITICS
ATTITUDE OF GOVERNMENT (Rec. 11.25) MELBOURNE, This Day. The Victorian Liberal Government is believed to be unwilling to conclude any agreement with tlie group which lias broken from the Country Party unless it can muster the support of 10 members. The two parties recently dissolved the Coalition Government following a dispute involving the Essential Services Act. The Liberal Party then formed a Government of its own, which is dependent for qontinuanee on support of either the Labour or Country Party, the combined strength of which outnumbers that of the Liberals. Six breakaway members failed to attend a meeting of the Country Party yesterday but against wishes of the leader of the State Party (Mr J. G. McDonald) and Sir Albert'Dunstan the meeting appointed a committee to interview members of the group. In the meantime the breakaways have had conferences with the Premier (Mr T, T. IIollway).
