WRECKAGE OF PLANE SIGHTED

SLOPES OF ERUPTING VOLCANO HONOLULU, Jan. 10. A Coastguard search plane sighted the wreckage of an aircraft on the western slope of the erupting Mauna Loa volcano to-day as the activity of the mountain decreased. Observers are unable to determine if the crashed plane was the one which disappeared in a cloud of volcano gases during the height of the eruption. Police are awaiting a report of the plane’s position before sending out ground parties.
