COMBING OUT OF DISLOYALISTS

COMMISSION APPOINTED / / (Rec. 0.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 1. The Treasury announced the names of three former civil servants to consider the cases of civil servants sus pected of Communists or Fascist associations. _ The appointees are Sir Thomas Gardiner, chairman, ,a former DirectorGeneral .of the Post Office, Sir Maurice Holmes, -formerly permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Education, and Sir Frederick Leggett, formerly DeputySecrfetary to the Ministry of Labour. The committee will advise Ministers about Communists and Fascists working on Government security _ ments. It extreme cases dismissals will take place. The Treasury said if a civil servant challenged his transfer or dismissal or if there appeared to be some doubt about a case in which the Minister might take action, all the, evidence would go to the committee which would carry out an impartial inquiry.
