DISCOVERY OF SPY RING
CLAIM BY RUSSIANS IN BERLIN (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, March 30. Reuter’s correspondent in Moscow says that the Soviet authorities in Berlin allege that they have discovered the existence of am illegal Fascist organisation which the American”authorities are using for espionage in the Soviet zone.
“Pravda” said that the Russians had arrested a former German army colonel, Gerhard Pinkert, who confessed that he was a regimental commander in an organisation known as the “Brandenberg Division.” Pinkert is alleged to have said that the former Chief-of-Staff of the German land forces, Colonel-General Haider, avrs commander-in-chief of the organisation, which the American intelligence service subsidised and which gaA r e the Americans information on military, political and economic matters.
