SPAIN’S POLICY DEFENDED
CIVIL WAR “A HOLY CRUSADE” (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Mar. 30. The Madrid correspondent of the British United Press reports that General Franco, addressing 4500 cadets in Madrid yesterday, deplored Spain’s exclusion from the family of nations which was rehabilitating Europe, and prophesised that the time would come Avhen those nations now opposing Spain would all be rubbing elbows together in the same trench. General Franco reaffirmed Spain’s anti-Communist policy, saying that 12 European countries Avere iioav experiencing the Communist yoke. The world Avas suffering from a spiritual eclipse, but Spain was ahead of other nations because of her ciAbl war, Avhich lie described as “a holy crusade.” He added that Spain also believed in liberty, but she preferred to sacrifice a little liberty for the sake of maintaining order.
