CELTIC GO WELL CHRISTCHURCH TOURNAMENT Ashburton Celtic did very well in the South Island Catholic Club’s annual Rugby tournament, at Christchurch on Saturday. In the first, round they defeated Christchurch Marist (winners last year) by a force-down after each had scored a penalty goal. Three spells of extra time had to lie played before a decision was reached. Against Dunedin, in the second round, the Ashburton team was unlucky to bo beaten. A breakaway early in the second half gave Dunedin a converted try. Celtic was hot on attack for the rest of the game, tries being narrowly missed by G. Blacklow and B. Barrett, but time Avas called with the scores still: Dunedin 5, Celtic 0. Dunedin meets Invercargill Marist in the final this afternoon.
