PRICE OF SUGAR

TRIBUNAL’S DECISION * 1P RESERVED (P.A.) WELLINGTON, March 24. Tile decision of the Price Tribunal was -reserved when, the hearing ended to-day of the application by the Colonial Sugar Refinery Company for an increase in the wholesale price of sugar. Mr H. P. Richmond, counsel for the company; said the decision should be given quickly as £IOOO a week was involved. It was asked that the company’s margin should be restored to the taxable figure which had been agreed to by the' Government in 1939. That figure was £3 2s 6d a ton. Taxes were considerably higher now than they were in 1939. Announcing that the tribunal’s decision would be reserved, Judge Hunter said: “We will do our best to see that the company is not held in suspense any longer than cap be avoided.”
