County Riding Rolls for Elections OBJECTIONS AND APPEALS Now open for inspection at the offices of the Ashburton County Council and in each of the seven ridings of the county are the main riding rolls that have been prepared for the local body elections in November.

These rolls will remain open for inspection until August 15, while objections or appeals concerning the rolls must he made on or. before August 22. The county rolls contain approximately 6700 names, the approximate figures for each of . the ridings being as follow:—Ashburton, 4500; Mount Hutt, 1400; Mount Somers, 900; Rangitata, 900; South Rakaia, 1180; Upper Ashburton, 900; Wakanui, S3O. As the names of persons who are entitled to Vote on a residential qualification only are obtained from the parliamentary roll for the Ashburton electorate, any persons whose names do not appear there would not be included in the county rolls, said Mr A. Kelly (assistant County Clerk) to-day. Mr Kelly said that persons concerned might be those who have recently moved into the county, and have not yet ensured that their names are on the roll for this electorate, and also those persefcs who had reached the age of 21 since the last parliamentary election and who had not yet applied to be included on the parliamentary roll. Persons in these categories would have to make application for inclusion in the county lists.,
