UPHAM MEMORIAL
FURTHER GRANT BY ASHBURTON R.S.A. >\ ' “The Upham Memorial Scholarship Fund does not seem to be Anaking the progress it should be,” commented Mr D. Smith, at the quarterly meeting of the Ashburton R.S.A. last evening, in moving that a further donation be made. Recalling that the association had previously donated £25, Mr Smith suggested that a further similar amount should be given. Mr W. G. Welsh commented that the association’s contribution was the biggest by any public body in the county. It was regrettable that more practical interest was not shown, and it was now, up to the people themselves.
After a brief discussion, it was. decided to make a further donation of £lO, this amount to be divided between the Borough and the County funds.
