Nurses From England “The first party of 25 girls who are being brought to New Zealand from Britain to assist, in overcoming the staffing problem in mental hospitals In the Dominion is expected to leave for NeAV Zealand in the Rangitata early next month,” said the Minister of Health (the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer) yesterday. “Plans provide for a total of 200 girls being brought to the Dominion for t£is purpose. After the departure of the first party it is hoped to send further parties of up to 20 girls in succeeding ships.”

Waihemo Delayed After a delay of nearly 24 hours through the refusal of her Canadian crew either to leave King’s Wharf for an anchorage in the stream or to put to sea, the Canadian-Australasian Line freighter Waihemo left Auckland about 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon for Vancouver, via Suva and Papeete, States a Press Association message. The delay followed the refusal of a request from the crew to move a distressed British seaman, a. Vancouver galley-boy, wlio Avas being repatriated, from their quarters to accommodation amidships, and the Waihemo sailed shortly after the boy' Avas brought ashore by the company. The delay, in addition to holding the freighter in idleness, Avas causing difficulties to other ships Avaiting for berths, particularly to a steamer requiring the King’s Wharf phosphate discharging berth, and the company finally decided that the issue was not sufficiently important to warrant serious effects.
