ANNUAL BREAK-UP

EAST SUNDAY SCHOOL There was a large gathering of parents, -pupils and teachers when the annual break-up ceremony of the Ashburton East Presbyterian Sunday School was held in the Hampstead Memorial Hall last evening.

There was a long list of awards. The combined classes sang three hymns. Other items were:

Miss Rainey’s Class: Bernard Reddeeliffe and Diane Sutherland, duet; Vincent Dawson,. lan Knox, Maureen Anstiss, Beverley Twamley, Diane Sutherland and Bernard Reddecliffe, recitations.

Miss Chittenton’s Class: “Away in a Manger”; Elizabeth Hitchins, recitation; Velma Scott, Margaret Muir and Jill Neilson, song. Miss Cairn’s Class: Peter and Russell Dawson, Terence Jamison and Henderson Ferguson, songs; Maqk. Ferguson, recitation; Brian Twamley and Graham Anstiss, pianoforte solos. Mrs Morrow’s Class: Hymn; Margaret Thompson, Pamela Dawson and Beverley Hunt, recitations; Leslie Inch, piano solo. Mr Johnson’s Class: Robert Neilson, mandolin solo; Class, Cow-boy songs. Misses J. Rainey and I. Bennett played a piano duet.
