TRANSPORT PICNIC
MID-CANTERBURY STAFF AND FAMILIES
About 300 children and 230 adults attended a most enjoyable and successful picnic of the staff and families of Mid-Canterbury Transport, Ltd., at the Methven Showgrounds on Saturday. Almost every district in the County was represented. A feature of the clay was the visit of Father Christmas, who, attended by two fairies, was piped into the grounds followed by a procession of children, after the style of the Pied Piper. Gifts were distributed among all the children by Father Christmas. The appetites of the young visitors were well catered for, over 16 gallons of ice-cream and 36 dozen bottles. of soft drinks being disposed of during the day. * A prize for the largest family attending was won by Mr and Mrs Fleet, of Hinds, with their nine children.
