CHURCH SERVICES
SCHEME FOR BROADCASTING Permission to, place an amplifier in front of the Baring Square Methodist Church- so that sermohs could be heard in Baring Square if required was- sought by. the Rev. W. T. Blight in a letter received by the Borough Council last evening. The letter stated that the church was already equipped with an internal amplifying system and the extension, if approved, could be used without annoying adjacent residents.
“I have no objection to the proposal,” said the Mayor, “but if it becomes a practice among all the churches Sunday evenings could be made rather noisy.” It was intended to use the amplifier only on special occasions, or when the church was overcrowded, said Mr K. R. Mcllraith.
It was. agreed on the motion to grant the application subject to approval being withdrawn if the system created a disturbance of any kind.
