LODGE MEETINGS
STAR OF ASHBURTON, U.A.O.D. Sick pay in favour of 14 members was approved by the • Star of Ashburton Lodge, U.A.0.D., last evening. Seasonal greetings from sister lodges were reciprocated. The A.D. (Bro.E. E. Beach) reported oh the visit to the Lily of Temuka Lodge last week. The Benevdlent Committee approved grants to two distressed members. It was decided that as the next meeting fell on New Years' Eve it be allowed to lapse.
A social to honour returned service members followed the meeting. Several toasts were honoured and Bros 1 . J. Parks and I Watson and Messrs J. Hawkes and Sparrow contributed musical items. Sister J. Cox was accompanist. * Visitors included members of the Success 5f Ashburton Lodge.
COURT ASHBURTON, A.O.F. Court Ashburton Lodge, A.0.F., held its fortnightly meeting last evening. W. Bro. A. *P. Rattray, P.C.R., presided over a good attendance. Sick-pay amounting to £l3 10s was passed in favour of 12 members. The secretaries of the parent and juvenile lodges were instructed to approach the railway authorities regarding concessions for the picnic to Riccarton Racecourse on January 19. It was decided to request parents to advise the secretaries immediately how many from each family would be travelling.
It was reported that the recent social and dance was a success, both financially and socially. Nominations for officers for the ensuing term were received, and were held over until the next meeting.
It was decided to forward a letter to Mrs G. D. Crabbe, who is leaving Ashburton, thanking her for the valuable service she lias given in connection with the social side of lodge work.
